2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R Receives 5.2L Supercharged Predator V8

After months of speculation, some leaked photographs suggest that the Predator V8 will be the engine of choice for the highly anticipated Ford F-150 Raptor R. While we wait for the official figures from Ford, we can be sure that the engine is capable of surpassing the RAM TRX in the case of this brutal horsepower.

Many past reports here have highlighted the fact that a V8 will eventually be under the hood of the new F-150 Raptor R. What was unknown was exactly which V8 Ford would use for the new beast. Theories about a big new V8 or Predator V8 have swirled around but now they’re all dead like dinosaurs.

These two images leaked from the Instagram user’s Raptor connection show both the Ford utility engine and the official build rotation sheet. In the first post, uploaded just three days ago, we can see the build sheet with Raptor C and 5.2L sound. Cody, the man at the forefront of that Instagram account, confirmed to Carscopes that he had no doubt that these images were the real deal.

That 5.2-liter engine is going to be the Predator V8 that produces 760 hp on the Shelby GT500 Mustang. This is significantly higher than the 702 hp produced by the supercharged V8 on the RAM 1500 TRX, although we do not know which Raptor R to choose for.

There is really no way to know what Ford plans to charge for the F-150 Raptor R at this early stage. Nevertheless, we can confirm a few details. First, the engine used for the Shelby GT500 is actually part of a performance that can be found on Ford’s own website.

There, it goes for 27,295, so it’s possible that the price of the Raptor R RAM TRX will be around $ 70,000 or more. Second, we’re pretty sure that despite the Ford CEO’s warning against markup, the new Raptor R will probably be hard to find anywhere near MSRP.
