Porsche 984 concept
Between 1984 and 1987, the Porsche Development Center in Weissach, Germany, was working on a top-secret prototype called the Porsche 984. Conceived as a lightweight, aerodynamic roadstar, it was designed to provide an affordable entry-point into the Porsche range. . Engineers at Porsche wanted to make the 984 fun, so the weight was kept low and the engine power was moderate. It also had a folded hard-top roof, which was quite a novelty at the time. Unfortunately, the project was postponed in 1987 due to the fall of the US dollar.
