BMW took us to its social media outlets today to give us a first glimpse of what its new competition hypercar will look like. The automaker further revealed that it will unveil the car on Monday, June 6th.
Most of the finer details of the car are in the dark, which prevents our car from looking really good. Considering the automaker’s rendering published in November 2021, we can see some details of that drawing reflected here.
For example, there are twin slim vertical headlights, as well as sharp side mirrors and a huge front splitter to look like the top.

There is also a hood-mounted air intake for the hybrid powertrain. Meanwhile, a giant branch points out that BMW did not follow the same development path as Peugeot, relying on underbody arrow elements for rear-end downforce for its Hypercar promoters.
As seen in the previous rendering, the styling of the race car will be taken after the modern production BMW and will have a large kidney grill on the front.
The automaker further hinted that it would be promoting two LMDh cars at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and using a chassis produced by Dallara. The company’s first car, manufactured in an Italian factory, will make its on-track debut on the Varano circuit this year, before racing for the first time on the Rolex 24 in Daytona in January 2023.
More details about the powertrain have not yet been released by the automaker, but class requires that race cars use a hybrid powertrain. In addition to racing on IMSA, BMW has also made it clear that it wants to run its car on Le Mans 24 hours a day, whose regulations will also satisfy it.
In the legendary French race, it will compete against cars fielded by Porsche, Audi, Acura, Toyota, Peugeot, Ferrari and others.
