In a show about the excellence of automobiles, it is not surprising that Bugatti was the main event.
Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is a highly anticipated automotive event, showcasing the world’s best automobiles against the backdrop of a Renaissance-era palace-converted luxury hotel on the sparkling waters of Lake Como, Italy. . The whole event is a classic beauty and luxury, which is why the Bugatti and its cars could not be in a more suitable place. This year’s Concorso d’Eleganza saw a Bugatti Type 57S Vanvooren Cabriolet, one of only four entities, winning both Class A categories: The Golden Age of Elegance: The Art Deco Era of Motor Car Design, and Best of Show Award.

Also on display were a 1934 Bugatti Type 59 race car and a 1937 Type 57C Stelvio Cabriolet gangloff with bodywork. The Type 59 race car began life as a factory race car and was later transformed into a sports car that competed in races until 1937. It had only five owners, one of whom was King Leopold III of Belgium from 1938. Achieving its beauty and multi-faceted legacy is the FIVA Trophy for the best preserved pre-combat vehicle at this year’s Concarco d’Eleganza Villa d’Est. The Type 57C Stelvio Cabriolet was the first Type 57 model in which Bugatti installed a supercharger. Named after the Passo dello Stelvio or Stelvio Pass, the car’s powerful engine helped it navigate steep mountain roads.
In more modern categories, the concept car and prototype, the Bugatti Bugatti won the Design Award at this year’s Concarco d’Eleganza with Bolidi. Unveiled in 2020, Bolide is the most extreme bugatti, with a track-centric policy and an incredible energy-to-weight ratio. This year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este was incredible for the Bugatti, but it’s nothing new, as Ralph Lauren’s 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC went to the Atlantic in 2013, one of two well-known surviving examples. At the same time, the Bugatti La Voiture Noire, a car that pays homage to the infamous lost Type 57C Atlantic, won the 2019 Concept Car and Prototype category.
