It will still be a few months before we see the full unveiling of the brand new BMW M2 but that has not stopped the company from teasing us with new information about it. Today we get new photos and details of the Hot Sports Coupe when it laps Salzburg in Austria and from what we see, it is going to be a pure driving machine.
We won’t know the details until October this year, when the M2 will go on sale next spring. Nonetheless, we can be sure that the courage of this car sounds like a recipe for complete success. Although slightly larger in every dimension than the old car, BMW says that the “new production car boasts the same level of performance as the BMW M2 CS.”
We’ve seen quite a bit of the M2 before, and even the back of it seems to have a clear glimpse. The car is expected to produce between 430 hp (436 PS / 321 kW) and 490 hp (497 PS / 365 kW) depending on the trim, while BMW has confirmed that it will be available with a six-speed manual or an eight- Speed M steptronic automatic transmission.

Notable for Salzburg’s high-speed turning and technical final sector. Highlights a long straight top-end motion on the homestretch. BMW further revealed that the new M2 is equipped with “powerful brake system (which comes from M3 and M4”).
This is a great mix for a sports coupe that needs to be improved on an already very good M2 formula. Again, we now know that this car will be a little bigger and slightly heavier than the outgoing M2 but it will not push us if it continues to move forward as the best driver M car.
In the new images provided by BMW, we see a number of important details such as a detailed infotainment / driver information display and updated sports seats in this car. It even has an interesting little car featured in the infotainment system which, unless we make a mistake, is a representation of the legendary M1.
