Lotus Axis sadly no longer exists but it is one of the purest and most addictive sports cars ever launched and Chris Harris recently traveled down Memory Lane with a very special Axis.
This Exige was a Series 1 model and was once a press car. Harris used it as long-term for six months when it was new and said he drove about 15,000 miles (~ 24,000 km) while with it.
Harris absolutely loved his time with the Exige S1 which had some issues during the day. Most notably, the engine had a problem where it could sway back and forth, and on the way back from Nবারrburging, he blew up the original engine. Since then it has been replaced by the 1.8-liter Rover K-Series producing approximately 190 hp.

While driving for the first time in 20 years, Harris noted that he would gladly give up all the performances given by modern day sports cars and supercars for such a raw driving experience. He described the steering as “excellent” and said the manual transmission was “absolutely perfect”.
