The Tesla CEO famously slept in his Fremont car factory, and now it seems Elon Musk is expecting his employees to make at least the same kind of promise in their jobs.
In two emails, one with the headline “Remote work is no longer acceptable”, Musk insisted that employees must be present in their office for at least 40 hours per week or leave the company except in exceptional circumstances.
“Anyone wishing to work remotely must stay in the office for a minimum (and I mean * minimum *) of 40 hours per week or leave Tesla,” Musk wrote on Tuesday. “It’s less than we factory workers.”
In a second email that contained “super clear” content, Musk explained that employees who did not show up for the required 40 hours would be deemed to have resigned, and reminded employees of their personal sacrifices in 2017 and 2018. .
“That’s why I stay in the factory so long – so that people in line can see me working alongside them. If I hadn’t done that, Tesla would have gone bankrupt long ago.

Then, moving on to the inevitable comparison with other companies that allow employees to work remotely, Musk adds: “Of course there are some companies that don’t need it, but when was the last time they shipped a great product? It will be a while. “
“Tesla has created and will actually create the most exciting and meaningful product of any company in the world,” Musk said, ending his mistress. “It doesn’t happen by phone.”
When a Twitter user was asked what he would say to Tesla employees who believe that working is an old idea, Musk said these people “should pretend to work somewhere else.”
The news is likely to receive mixed reviews from Tesla employees, but those on Twitter are more likely to be concerned. The social media company is currently trying to buy the mask, allowing its nearly 100,000-strong workforce to operate from where they feel more comfortable and creative.
