According to Italian reports, Ferrari is expanding its Maranello plant to create a third production line specifically for electric vehicles.
Bloomberg Claiming that the Italian supercar firm had purchased additional land near its famous factory north of Bologna and was clearing the ground ready for construction work. Sources familiar with the matter told the website that the new features would include a new R&D facility, specifically to improve battery technology.
Ferrari already has two hybrid cars for sale on the SF90 and 296, or four if you separate those models into coupe and convertible variants. But the company is preparing for a massive push into the electric age that is in a serious fashion with its first EV launch in 2025.
Bloomberg Says Ferrari will officially unveil the plant expansion project on June 16 on its Capital Market Day. The new CEO, Benedetto Vigna, who was hired from the tech industry last year to conduct a radical restructuring of the firm aimed at preparing it to switch to electric power, will use the event to give investors insight into car makers’ EV strategy, including a four-year Business plan.

Investors and car enthusiasts alike will scramble to find out if the plan includes more crossovers and SUVs to sit next to Purosangue and expect to hear more about the 2025 EV. Although the traditionally confidential company rarely discloses about its first electric car, leaked patents show that it will be a four-wheel-drive two-seater sports car with an electric motor on each wheel.
“Our interpretation and application of these technologies in both motorsport and road car is a huge opportunity to bring Ferrari’s uniqueness and passion to the new generation,” Ferrari Chairman John Elkan said at the company’s annual general meeting last year.
