Jaguar Land Rover will launch what3words global location technology on its vehicles via an over-the-air software update.
The what3words system divides the world into a grid of 3m x 3m squares and gives each a unique combination of three words. The system was recently launched in Europe for the 2023 XE and XF and is used by several different car manufacturers, including Mercedes-Benz and Lamborghini.
Software updated Jaguar Land Rover models will support what3words with ‘Always-On’ technology that works without the need for a mobile connection. Once the system is updated to include technology, customers will be able to input any 3 word addresses directly into the navigation bar of the Pivi Pro infotainment system.
