Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae is the ultimate model but is it the best?

The Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae will soon be on its way to Dodo but to send it in style, the automaker has launched the Ultimae variant in mid-2021. Created as the ultimate swan song of the iconic supercar, Ultimai is quite spectacular and has recently been tested by Carfection.

While building the Ultimai, Lamborghini decided to build a car that would be more track-focused than the SVJ and complete with foreign wings and splitter. Instead, it decided to make the final version of the Aventador a middle ground between S and SVJ.

This philosophy is most evident in the exterior design of the vehicle which borrows material from S and SVJ. For example, the front fascia is essentially identical to the S but includes an active splitter and intake flap. Meanwhile, the back of the car has some SVJ-inspired components, the most notable of which are dual exhaust pipes and carbon fiber diffusers.

Below the sleek bodywork is the familiar 6.5-liter naturally-aspired V12 from Lamborghini but upgraded to 870 hp and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque at 8,700 rpm. This gives Ultimae 39 hp more than regular S and 10 hp more than SVJ It also weighs less than S but slightly heavier than SVJ, although the added grant means its power-to-weight ratio is the same as SVJ’s.

Carfection’s Harry Catchpole had the opportunity to drive on some of the most beautiful roads, and in a world where V12-powered performance cars are becoming increasingly rare, it’s important to celebrate when cars are around.
