New F1 version package for Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE performance will cost you

Mercedes-AMG is set to celebrate its 55th anniversary and the latest model to mark this occasion is the GT 63 SE Performance F1 version that was announced for the European market.

As the car is the brand’s “most powerful manufacturing model ever for technology transfer from Formula 1”, Mercedes is basically paying homage to a € 23,800 ($ 25,109 / £ 20,104) package that kept the powertrain unchanged.

It’s quite expensive, but the F1 version has an exclusive manufacturer’s alpine gray exterior with AMG characters, as well as a color gradient that changes from gray to black. They’re joined by 21-inch fake wheels with red accents and a matte black finish.

The model is equipped with an AMG Aerodynamics package, which includes a high-gloss black rear wing and an optimized diffuser. The package adds a larger front splitter and air deflector.

Buyers will also find AMG Night and Night II packages, which add high-gloss black accents, a black chrome finish and dark stained glass. They’re joined by a dark grille and black chrome badges In addition, there is a silver chrome fuel filler cap with the letter “AMG”.

Upon entering the cabin, buyers will find a black Napa leather AMG performance seat with red contrast stitching. Elsewhere, there are red seatbelts, carbon fiber trim with red accents, and AMG door seal plates with red lighting. Special floor mats and an “exclusive edition badge” highlights are rounded out.

Last but not least, buyers will find an indoor car cover with an F1 logo as well as an “antistatic inner fabric made of flannel”. The latter is designed to protect the car from dust and scratches.

While it’s interesting to notice the styling changes, the GT 63 SE performance is all about the powertrain. It has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, a rear-mounted electric motor and a 6.1 kWh battery pack. This setup gives the car a combined output of 831 hp (620 kW / 843 PS) and more than 1,032 lb-ft (1,400 Nm) of torque.

Thanks to these generous numbers, the model can rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km / h) in 2.9 seconds and hit a maximum speed of 196 miles per hour (316 km / h). The range-topping GT is also eco-friendly as it can only travel 12 km (7.5 miles) on electricity.
