To many, the term Tesla is so inextricably linked to the concept of the electric car that it’s hard to imagine what the current automotive landscape would look like without it. Since coming on the scene with some competitors, though, it has now engulfed the traditional automakers in all aspects, leaving themselves to compete in the EV field. So who will emerge as the biggest threat to the brand?
Although Tesla is undoubtedly still the EV leader in the United States, its leadership is slowly being pushed away by automakers such as Ford, GM, Volkswagen and Hyundai. Indeed, Automotive News recently reported that South Korean automaker is easily number two so far in 2022.
Its recent EVs have impressed with their range and design, and they have many years of experience in space, thanks to Kona Electric and Kia Nero EVs. The automaker seems to have everything Tesla rivals have.

But this is not the only one. Following the Dieselgate scandal, Volkswagen has decided to invest heavily in EVs. While it still does not threaten Tesla as far as U.S. sales are concerned, Elon Musk himself told the Financial Times that the German automaker is its biggest competitor on the world stage.
But since then, GM has also been bringing heat with its Ultium platform, while the start-up appeal of both Lucid and Rivian seems to be much higher. In fact, there are lots of companies coming up for the Tesla EV Crown, but who do you think is most likely to accept it – if any?
