The fourth addition to Lego Technique’s Ultimate Car Concept series, the toy maker’s latest Ferrari set is worth a look. A huge, highly detailed, surprisingly high-fidelity kit, giving LEGO customers the opportunity to build their own Ferrari Daytona SP3.
Measuring 5.5-inches (14 cm) tall, 23-inches (59 cm) long and 9.5-inches wide, the entire car is a 1: 8 representation of a full-size supercar. As a result of the size and complexity of the kit, it also contains 3,778 pieces, which makes it a big project that should probably only be handled by experienced manufacturers.
This complexity, though, gives it some pretty neat features. The model, aptly enough, has a V12 engine with a moving cylinder. That in itself is quite impressive but there is more. The car even has a working eight-speed sequential gearbox that you can handle with the paddle shifters in the highly detailed cockpit.

Lego CEO Nils Christianensen said: “No details were ignored in the design and I myself, with an engineering background, was amazed at the detail and accuracy of the model on such a small scale.” “We are incredibly fortunate to be able to partner with Ferrari to help fans make their dreams come true as they have created this remarkable example of racing excellence for realization with this new set.”
Requires less skill from the manufacturer but no less necessary for the overall attractiveness of the model, the car is finished in Ferrari red, has horse logo, butterfly door and even wheels which is finished in an attractive varnish silver.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with the LEGO Group on this stunning replica of our limited edition Daytona SP3 Supercar,” said Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari’s Chief Design Officer. “Thanks to this outstanding entertainment with Lego components, Ferrari and Lego fans can now make this car into pieces and feel that they are participating in the assembly process, with the opportunity to showcase the final model in their own home, where they can appreciate its beauty.”
Available exclusively at LEGO stores starting June 1st and then to other retailers worldwide starting August 1st, the set is priced at এবং / $ 399.99 in Europe and the US and £ 349.99 in the UK for those who are really excited about the set, LEGO is also offering a coffee table book. Which goes into the development of the model and the collaboration of the toy maker with Ferrari. Limited to 5,000 copies, it will be available exclusively on LEGO.com starting June 1.
