Although Toyota has yet to give details of the much-anticipated 2023 GR Corolla, the Japanese carmaker has already churned out a second special edition variant after the limited-circuit circuit model called the Marijo, which was used by Toyota Motor Corporation President Akio Toyoda when nicknamed. He is sitting behind the steering wheel of a race car.
Joining the GR Corolla Core Grade and Circuit version, limited to production of only 200 units worldwide for the 2023 model year, the MORIZO version benefits from a number of performance upgrades that promise to make it even stronger.
Toyota says the GR Corolla Morizo version was designed to meet the desired features of the Boss Akio Toyoda and was created as the final track-based version of the Hot Hatch. It can be found in Windchill Pearl and Matt Gray.

Toyota started with a 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine. The ‘standard’ GR Corolla delivers 300 hp and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque, but some changes mean that the torque figure for the Morizo version has increased to 295 lb-ft (400 Nm).
The added torque complement is a series of weight-saving means that the MORIZO version weighs about 100 pounds (45 kg) less than the circuit version. The savings were made by removing the rear seat, rear door speakers, rear window controller, rear wiper blades and new 18-inch fake wheels wrapped around the motor and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Other lightweight components in the Morizo version include a faux carbon fiber roof, an aluminum hood and an aluminum front door panel. New front brake duct has also been installed.
Near ratio transmission and tuned suspension
The Toyota GR Corolla has gone to great lengths to develop a six-speed manual transmission for the Morizo version that promises to improve acceleration. The Japanese carmaker has fitted it with red monotube shock absorbers and unique suspension tuning “to make it perfect for a perfect driving racing.”
Some changes have been made to the cabin of the GR Corolla Morizo version. New black and red trim details around the door handle, steering wheel and side air vents. It also plays a synthetic leather trim with brin nub suede and red stitching. The car has red mesh inserts on the seats as well as a sports steering wheel wrapped in suede.
The price details as well as the number of cars offered in each market will be announced later this year.
