The Audi RS4 and RS5 are spiced up with new competition packages for the US and Europe

Audi has announced new Competition and Competition Plus packages for the RS4 Avant, RS5 Coupé and RS5 Sportback, adding minor visual treats as well as improving their driving mobility and performance.

In Europe, customers will be offered Audi’s Competition and Competition Plus packages in the RS4 Avant, RS5 Coupe and Sportback models, while in the United States, German carmakers will offer upgraded competition packages (no “plus” here) for the RS5 coupe and Sportback models.

The new option includes a manually adjustable RS Sport Suspension Pro coilover that reduces the ride height from the factory by 10mm (0.4 inches), giving customers the option to go an extra 10mm for a total drop of 20mm (0.8in) less. For stock RS4 and RS5 models. The new suspension comes with a higher spring rate, three-way adjustable damper and stiffer stabilizer. While this suspension setup sounds more track-focused than your typical Audi, the company claims that it maintains a fine balance between comfort and performance.

Driving dynamics also benefit by adding Quattro Sport differential, automatic transmission and updated software for ECU, retuned ABS, and a fixed steering ratio of 1: 13.1. The RS ceramic brake system reduces braking distance by 2 meters (78.7 inches) in 100-0 km (60-0 mph) tests, while the fitting of Pirelli Corsa P Zero tires contributes to higher grip levels and better handling. Finally, the RS Sport Exhaust System Plus provides more stimulating sound combined with a reduction in insulation between the cabin and the engine bogie, including the matte black quad tailpipe.

By producing the same 444 hp (331 kW / 450 PS) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) torque as the Twin-Turbo 2.9-liter V6 standard RS4 / RS5 model, performance statistics have been improved. Fitted with the Competition Plus pack, the RS4 Avant accelerates from 0-100 km / h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds (-0.2 seconds) whereas the same sprint on the RS5 Coupé and Sportback requires 3.8 seconds (-0.1 seconds). Also, tweaking the package limit of all competitions increases the maximum speed to 290 km / h (180 miles per hour).

Apparently, the most interesting change is the 20-inch Mild Alloy Wheel which is optionally available in Phantom Black. In addition, the packages come with a glossy black finish on the badges, standard matrix LED headlights and carbon matte optics packages (mirror caps, front blades, side flaps, side seal extensions, carbon matte rear diffuser trim). Inside, we see piano black accents next to the RS Sport seat that can get optional Dynamica / Pearl Nappa upholstery.

In Europe, the Competition Package costs 7,875 ($ 8,283) whereas the Competition Plus Package will return you 11,875 ($ 12,495).

In the US, Audi is only offering a single competition package priced at $ 16,100 and will be available to order from June 2022. The cost is in addition to the RS5 Coupe’s $ 75,900 MSRP, or $ 76,200 RS5 Sportback from RS4 Avant. Not available in the United States.
