The BMW i7 has a complex Swarovski crystal headlight

The new BMW i7 has a very attractive look and the front grille is probably the most interesting part, the split crystal headlights made with Swarovski are also quite special.

BMW has designed the i7 with a pair of split headlights and has Swarovski crystals along the entire length at the top. The German carmaker says that the design of this light makes it almost windy during the day.

Making these headlights was not easy. In fact, Swarovski had to create a floating device on which the crystals would sit to ensure that they would be in the right place for the life of the car.

The implementation of crystal headlights has given car makers the opportunity to call it the ‘Great Entrance Moment’. When the driver approaches the car, the kidney grille and crystal headlights start a complex light show.

“So far, you’ve only seen one type of light strip on the street – the exact opposite of crystal headlights,” Tom Binder, head of BMW’s exterior lighting design, said in a statement. “The image of dazzling, vibrant light is a world different from the known accurate light graphic. The precision is in the glass material, though, which can be machined much more precisely and precisely than plastic.”

Of course, it’s not just the headlights that make the i7 attractive. It has so far only been shown in xDrive60 camouflage with a 255 hp electric motor on the front axle and a 308 hp electric motor on the rear axle. All in all, it is good for 536 hp and 549 lb-ft (744 Nm) of torque. These motors are powered by a 101.7 kWh battery pack that gives the luxury sedan an estimated range of 300 miles (483 km).
