The next generation Q5 may be the latest to be offered with an internal combustion engine as an alternative and is one of the prototypes that Audi is using to develop the production version.
Only for the second time in speed testing, the model remained in reasonably effective black and white camouflage. Like the headlights though some details can be seen through the camera.
Although their exact size remains unclear, what we are seeing is that the new Q5 will continue with the modern trends in Audi’s intricate headlight design. Even here, two distinct shapes can be seen, consisting of DRL, and the model will probably be identified by them.

The rough shape of the front edge also indicates that the new model will get a redesign to make it more compatible with the current Audi design language. In particular, it looks like it will take a lot of styling signals from the Q6 E-Tron, as Audi is going to combine the styling of its latest / last ICE and electric models.
Like the next-generation A4, Audi is expected to build this Q5 on a modified MLB Evo platform, which also underpins the A8 and Q8. It opens up to all sorts of innovative technologies, including autonomous driving functions, connectivity features and even four-wheel steering. It remains to be seen how much these mid-sized SUVs are likely to offer those features.
The model will almost certainly be offered with a range of light-hybrid and plug-in hybrid drivetrain, and Europeans may also get some diesel options. A 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine could probably be the basis for a few powertrain options.
It’s not clear if Audi will offer an electric version of the Q5, but it looks like the Q6 will serve as an electrical alternative to the E-Tron segment. Based on the PPE platform, that crossover could carry the legacy of Q5 in the future.
The new Audi Q5 is expected to arrive in North America sometime in 2024 as 2025MY.
