Defender is adding to the lineup anywhere, including a new ultra-long version called Land Rover 130. Designed to serve those who want to carry more passengers, this larger three-row defender is an extended body version of the already popular one. 90 and 110 variants. The wheelbase itself is unchanged at 118.9 inches (3,022 mm) but it is still a significant addition to the family of sturdy SUVs.
The new Defender 130’s 340mm or 13.3-inch extra body has been placed square in the back of the car, with the overall length now being extended to 210.9 inches (5,358mm). In fact, it is the defender’s square nature that helps this addition avoid looking out of place. This extra space provides space for the third row and a small storage area behind those seats.
The two-row Defender 110 has 34 cubic feet behind the rear seat and most of it has been dedicated to this new third row. The Defender 130, with three rows, has only 13.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind it, but passengers will probably find it a worthy tradeoff.

This third row passengers will not only enjoy the heated seats, they will also enjoy their own sunroof. Buyers can even add optional 130-only quad-zone climate control. Like the Land Rover products of the past, the stadium seating in the second and third rows has increased somewhat.
Those who just want more cargo space can buy the Defender 130 in a five-seater configuration. In that case, the cargo space expands positively into the 46.9 cubic foot cave. Fold down the second row and you will find 88.8 cubic feet worth of cargo space. It’s not just the big back edges that are unique to the 130’s.
How Defender 130 Will Stand Out
Land Rover has added a new color called Sedona Red which can only be found on the 130. A large 11.4-inch infotainment system is standard throughout the lineup as well as an air suspension system for enhanced comfort and off-road capability. At launch, three different light-hybrid engines were available in Europe.
Off-road enthusiasts will be happy to know that the Ingenium D300 is offering a diesel engine with 295-hp (220 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. Also, two gas engines will be on offer.
The P300 is a 300-hp (223 kW) inline-six gas-burner with 346 lb-ft (470 Nm) of torque and 0-60 mph (96 km / h) time of just 7.5 seconds. Buyers who want more power can choose the P400 which uses an inline-six as its base but produces 400-hp (298 kW) and 405 pound-feet (550 Nm) of torque. We’re still hoping for a V8 down the line.
In North America, the Defender 130 will be offered in a P300 camouflage with a 296-hp 3.0-liter light-hybrid inline six, and will offer a more powerful version of the same unit called the P400, 395-hp.
One thing that remains unchanged is the defender’s ability to get out of the way. The approach and break-over angles are identical compared to the smaller defenders 90 and 110. Only the departure angle is damaged but still rests at a respectable 28.5 degrees. Wading depth is not affected by excess size.
Special edition
Land Rover will offer a first version of the 130 in three high-spec configurations. These include Oyster Full Windsor Leather and Natural Light Oak Trim with Fuji White brand Extended Bright Pack.
A Sedona Red First Edition is complemented by ebony leather upholstery and smoked oak veneer. Finally, the first version painted a Carpathian gray gets tan leather upholstery and rough-cut walnut trim.
Customers can also choose HSE, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE and X Specification. One trim they can’t have is the special Defender 130 that Land Rover is preparing for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Although the design details have not been revealed yet, it will go into service with the Red Cross later this year.
