This Thai Toyota MR-S Porsche has almost fooled us into dressing like a boxster

The price of sports cars is skyrocketing these days, just like everything else, making it difficult for many enthusiasts to enjoy.

A cheaper solution is to buy a replica, and perhaps this Toyota MR-S Porsche could be a worthy candidate dressed like a boxster. For sale at Kaidee Auto, the replica makes a good impression on German sports cars at a much lower price than the original.

Both the front and rear fascia have been modified to replicate a first-generation boxstar with the infamous “Fried Egg” headlight. The front bumper is slightly different from the original 986 Boxstar’s stock and is replaced by the new 718-generation style monkey. Net effect is a fairly handsome vehicle, if not completely reliable.

Around the back it is definitely more integrated, the taillights and bumpers are taken directly from Porsche’s mid-engine sports car. Of course, based around a Toyota MR-S, the engine is in the right place for a reliable replica. The sports car is powered by a Toyota 1.8-liter four-cylinder, which means it has only 140 horsepower. It’s still attached to a manual transmission, however, which means it will be fun to drive.

Internal, of course, is where MR-S gives the game. Triple gauge pods are basically stocks, such as center consoles. In fact, we want to say that the Toyota steering wheel with Porsche badge looks a bit better than the stock Stuttgart steering wheel, but it’s just ours.

Obviously, this is not uncommon in Thailand, as there are many more models for sale that feature the Toyota MR-S as the basis for change. While trying to emulate it won’t have the same performance as the more expensive models, the MR-S is still a capable sports car in its own right.

The boxstar replica is currently selling at 850,000 Thai baht or $ 24,616 USD in Muang Lopburi, Thailand.
